Tekken 8: Harada addresses cheaters in ranked, online replay issue fixed

TEKKEN — With the game being less than a week old, some issues were already to be had in Tekken 8.

In addition to an issue with online replays, the game’s director and chief producer Katsuhiro Harada addressed accusations of cheating in the rank boards.

Rank Boosting

While responding to one of the customizations made by a player on X, formerly known as Twitter, he switches from “just kidding” to “this is not a joke.”

The cheating involves boosting between two players, one getting a PERFECT while the other throws the match. A clip shared by user Koenji online shows the two in the act and tags Hirada and fellow producer Michael Murray to have them banned.

A patch was performed on Feb. 7 and following was a statement from Harada. He says players who are suspected of cheating will now get in-game warnings with punishments including rank resetting.

According to his tweet:

We are currently investigating the match data of the top ranked players in “LEADERBOARD” who have been reported for cheating in online matches such as “RANKED MATCH” and have received reports in the game. If the results of the investigation indicate that the player is cheating, an in-game warning will be issued, and actions such as resetting related data and suspending the account will be taken during the upcoming maintenance. We will update you on the status of this matter as soon as we have more information.”

Online Replay Bug Fixed

Players who tried to access online replays may have experienced an issue in doing so. This was caused due to the high server usage keeping the list from either appearing or players receiving an error message.

It took no time for the production team to fix the problem.

Tekken 8 is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Steam via PC. The Demo is also still available.
